I was overjoyed to see the kids jumping into the waters and splashing it over each other while the elders seated at the shore discussing mundane things. It was a reunion of two families residing on either sides of the canal. But, their emotions slowly changed with time. What exactly had led to the fight I do not know. The unfinished bridge between them became a witness to enmity between the families. Might be, it was the bad time which led to the separation of the two families. After all, man is just a tool in the hands of situation.

NOW READ THE STORY BACKWARDS [rearranged below for easy reading]

After all, man is just a tool in the hands of situation. Might be, it was the bad time which led to the separation of the two families. The unfinished bridge between them became a witness to enmity between the families. What exactly had led to the fight I do not know. But, their emotions slowly changed with time. It was a reunion of two families residing on either sides of the canal. I was overjoyed to see the kids jumping into the waters and splashing it over each other while the elders seated at the shore discussing mundane things.

The above short story can be read both ways. Read the first version from top to bottom if you like sad ending and from the bottom to top for a happy ending. 🙂
